Heye is a Namibian-born mining engineer and has 28 years of varied experience in mining and finance. After 10 years in uranium and gold mining in Namibia and West Africa with Rio Tinto, AngloGold and Goldfields, Heye spent the next three years in mining project finance and fund management with Nedbank Capital and Old Mutual Investment Group in South Africa.
Since 2009 he has become a public markets mining entrepreneur with two successful exits (formation, advancement and sale of Auryx Gold Corp. which advanced the Otjikoto gold project in Namibia until selling to B2Gold Corp. for US$160m in 2011, then turn-around and subsequent merger of Ecuador Gold & Copper Corp. with Odin Mining, a Ross Beaty company, to form Lumina Gold Corp.) before founding Osino Resources Corp. with Alan Friedman in 2015 (current market cap of ~C$150m).
Osino started as just an exploration idea and since 2019 has discovered and consolidated ~4moz of gold in Namibia and is in the process of advancing the Twin Hills open pit gold project through permitting, project financing and definitive feasibility to planned construction late in 2023. This would be ~4 years from discovery to mine construction, which is a feat generally unheard of in the mining industry today.
